Nearly 40% of the 2022 US News and World 100 Best Job Rankings Were Healthcare Careers

The newest “100 Best Jobs” rankings of the US News and World Report were recently released and healthcare jobs were ranked very favorably. A total of 39 jobs were included in the top 100 and 8 were in the top 20. The highest-ranked healthcare profession (#2 overall) was Nurse Practitioner boasting a low unemployment rate at only 1.2% and a 52.2% employment growth from 2020 to 2030. The second-ranked healthcare profession (#3 overall) was Physician Assistant with a generous median salary of $115,390 and a 1.4% unemployment rate. Other professions in the top 20 were Speech and Language Pathologist (#10), Physician (#11), Registered nurse (#12), Respiratory therapist (#16), Oral and maxillofacial surgeon (#18), and Nurse Anesthetist (#19).

Known for its annual rankings, US News and World report calculates a score of 0-10 for 7 components, and then an overall score is given for each profession. The 7 components used are median salary, unemployment rate, 10-year growth volume, 10-year growth percentage, future job prospects, stress level, and work-life balance.
